Catchments to Coast”

The Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS), a nonprofit international organization dedicated to promoting wetland science and the exchange of information related to wetlands, is offering a limited number of student travel awards to the SWS 27th Annual Meeting to be held July 9-14, 2006 at the Cairns Convention Center, Cairns, Queensland, Australia. The Travel awards are designed to reward student achievement and promote dissemination of their research results. The awards are intended to help reduce overall costs associated with travel and attendance to the SWS annual meeting and are not meant to be full payment of total travel and meeting expenses. Therefore, additional funding by other sources may be necessary to facilitate travel to the conference. A limited number of awards, valued at $500 (AUS), will be awarded to selected students from within and outside Australia who not only meet the eligibility criteria listed below, but who would best further the goals of the SWS in their respective country or state.

Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate (Masters or PhD) students, studding either in Australia or abroad, who conduct research relevant to the goals of the Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS).  Student award candidates must submit an abstract (250 word maximum) via the official meeting webpage by 14 February 2006  (Please see http://www.catchments.org.au/) for instructions and format requirements) and the abstract must be accepted by the program committee.  SWS requires that all candidates be registered and present at the meeting and that they present a 15-20 minute paper or poster on their research progress.
