Pre-conference meetings/workshops
Meeting on Mangrove Macrobenthos 2 (MMM2)

25 June - 2 July 2006 Gold Coast, hosted by Griffith University, Australia followed by a field trip to the Daintree River, north Queensland 3 – 9 July

The first MMM (www.specola.unifi.it/MMM/) was held in September 2000 at Mombasa, Kenya, organised by Professor Marco Vannini, Dr Stefano Cannicci and Renison Ruwa of Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI). About 100 participants from Europe, America, Africa, and Australia attended the meeting, with some of the papers presented now published in a special issue of Wetlands Ecology and Management (Volume 10 , 2002). It was resolved at the meeting that MMM2 would be held in Australia immediately prior to Catchments to Coast so that delegates had the opportunity to attend both events. .

Wetland Education and Training Workshop
Update your skills as an accredited wetland scientist by attending a Wetland Education and Training Workshop in Sydney immediately following the Cairns conference. Workshops cover issues in the management of mangrove and saltmarsh, set in the scenic Sydney Olympic Park. Site of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the parklands contain some of the most intensively managed wetlands in Australia.
